When to Take the MCAT

It’s Prime MCAT Time…

If you haven’t signed up yet for the MCAT, now is a great time.

A lot of people ask me “When is the Best Time to Take the MCAT?”

The answer is: Take it early enough that you’ll have your score back about a week before the first day that AMCAS (the medical school application service) opens.

This year, it’s June 7th.

So, you’ll want to have your score back by about May 31st.

Since scores take about 3 weeks to come back, you’ll want to take your MCAT on or before about May 10th.

Now, you do have about 3 weeks of wiggle room with this.

AMCAS takes a few weeks to “verify” your application.

So, if you don’t have your score back on June 7th, you can choose 1 school to apply to and send your application in.

Once you get your score, you can update your school selection based on your MCAT score.

And yes, your score does matter a lot when choosing your medical schools.

If you do well, all doors are open to you. As your score starts to drop, schools start to shut their doors.

Again, the programs I recommend for MCAT prep are are Kaplan and Princeton Review.

Until midnight tonight, you have the chance to get $250 off  these Princeton Review Courses:

MCAT Ultimate Classroom, Ultimate Liveonline or MCAT Self-paced courses.

Just click this link and use the code INSIDER250 at checkout.

Good luck!

P.S. Scoring well on the MCAT is just one part of what will help you get accepted. For a full explanation of a system that has helped real students get into medical school, check out my eBook 10 Steps to Accepted.

Dr. Frazier was extremely helpful, thorough, constructive, easy to work with, and encouraging throughout the application process. He was absolutely instrumental to me overcoming the hurdle of a VERY low undergraduate GPA (~3.2) and getting into FOUR MD programs by December of the application year!  I am very grateful and lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Frazier and cannot recommend him enough. I highly encourage everyone to work with him!

I was proud of my final application, and I was ultimately accepted to Harvard, Brown, UCSF and the University of Colorado.  It was great to have Mike’s objective input and I would definitely recommend his help to other pre-med students!

I received my first acceptance from UC Davis (one of my dream schools!) as early as October, and Dr. Frazier’s help was definitely pivotal in helping me get there. Right now I’m deciding between acceptances to UC Davis, St. Louis University, NYU and Vanderbilt and am expecting to hear from more schools soon!

I was rejected last year with essentially the same application as this year. Thanks to Mike’s help, I’ve been accepted to 6 MD medical schools. And still have a few interviews to go! I highly recommend Mike’s products to help you get accepted.
– Zak Kroeger,  re-applicant, accepted at 6 medical schools

Just found out that I was accepted to medical school. I am in disbelief and extremely excited. I was not expecting this with my MCAT and GPA. I cannot express enough thanks to you for your continued assistance throughout this process. You have truly helped me realize one of my dreams. More than anything I thank you for your consistency in helping me feel comfortable throughout the process and making me feel like a priority.
